Children's Ministry

The Children's Ministry at University Church is a great place for your children to grow as disciples of Jesus. There are many areas to for your children to find a place.

We have Bible classes for babies and toddlers to 6th grade Sunday morning and Wednesday nights. We have a rotation model for our classes. Each week the children study a different area of the Scripture. There are four classes Sunday morning - Geography annd Culture, Music and Memory, Storytelling, and Theater. Wednesday nights they learn through Art, Games, Music and Memory.

During the worship hour on Sunday mornings we have a children's worship for ages 2-3rd grade we call C.O.O.L. Kids. C.O.O.L. stands for Christ Only Our Lord. The children are dismissed before the sermon and go to the Bible Hour room and are led in a lesson and hands on activity and songs.
For those in the 4th through 6th grades, we have a group of children called the Notetakers. During the sermon, those students take notes on the bulletin provided. Each quarter those who have taken notes go on a trip together.
During the summer there is VBS and this year we are adding a special needs VBS day.
There are also scheduled activities throughout the year: Trunk or Treat, Parent's Night Out, Pictures with Santa, and family picnics at the park. This year we also filled MAGI boxes to send to Zambia.
There are many ways to get involved with the Children's Ministry!
  • Teaching or helping Sunday mornings or Wednesday night
  • Leading or helping with C.O.O.L. kids
  • Helping with planned activities
  • VBS - we always need help decorating, teaching, helping and a myriad of other things
  • Planning and executing activities
  • Decorating and setting up for each curriculum change

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."  Deuteronomy 6:4-8
